PUBLIC DISPLAY EXERCISE ON THE ESIA FOR THE PROPOSED NIGERIA ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT (DESERT TO POWER) PHASE II AT ADMIRALTY UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA (ADUN), DELTA STATE, AFRICAN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY (AUST) ABUJA-FCT AND AFRICAN AVIATION AND AEROSPACE UNIVERSITY (AAAU), ABUJA-FCT BY RURAL ELECTRIFICATION AGENCY.
In accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Act CAP E12 LFN 2004, which makes it mandatory for proponents of all new major developmental activities to carry out EIA for their proposed projects, the Federal Ministry of Environment hereby announces twenty–one (21) working days public display for the draft ESIA report submitted by Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The proposed project will involve development of a solar hybrid mini grid station. The mini grid will utilise approximately 2,500 ground-mounted 414 Wp photovoltaic modules (approximately 1.04 MWp DC), lithium-ion phosphate battery energy storage, string inverters, step-up transformers, switchgear, supervisory control and data acquisition as well as ancillary components such as limited backup diesel generator, underground armoured cabling of approximately 11kV to the university’s internal power distribution within the Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN), Delta State, African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU) Abuja-FCT and African University of Science and Technology (AUST) Abuja-FCT.
