ESIA REPORT FOR BAGAUDA AIH AND ATC 2026 BY KNSG

The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) proposes to develop a Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) program in Kano State. The Special Agro-industrial Processing Zone is a major investment program of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), driven by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS) in collaboration with state governments, Development partners, relevant Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), and private investors to establish agro-processing clusters in areas of high agricultural production across the country. This program aims to build modern agro processing capacity for the growing local market, create sustainable outlets for farmers, minimize post-harvest losses, generate wealth for farming communities, promote import substitution, and foster job creation particularly for women and youth in agriculture-related sectors. The SAPZ comprises a central Agro-Industrial Hub (AIH) supported by multiple Agricultural Transformation Centres (ATCs), positioned within key production zones to aggregate community produce for supply to the AIH. The proposed AIH will be located at Bagauda community, Bebeji LGA, Kano State. The site will span across 271 hectares of land allocated by the Kano State Government (KNSG) through the Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KNARDA). The site is currently under cultivation being used for farming of maize, soybeans, sorghum, guinea corn, cowpea and groundnut.
