PUBLIC DISCLOSURE OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL MANAGEMENT PLAN (ESMP) FOR THE RENOVATION OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN SOKOTO STATE BY THE ADOLESCENT GIRLS’ INITIATIVE FOR LEARNING AND EMPOWERMENT (AGILE).
In accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Act Cap E12 LFN 2004, which makes it mandatory for proponents of all new major development activities to carry out Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of their proposed projects, the Federal Ministry of Environment hereby announces a twenty–one (21) working days Public disclosure for information and comments on the Environmental and Social Management Plan Document submitted by Sokoto State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project.
The Disclosure Centers Are: FINAL_SOKOTO_ESMP_DRAFT_REPORT_WB
- Affected 23 LGAs of Sokoto State.
- Sokoto State Ministry of Environment, State Secretariat, Sokoto State;
- Federal Ministry of Environment Office, Sokoto, Sokoto State;
- Federal Ministry of Environment, Environment House (Brown Building), Independence Way-South, Central Business District, Abuja-FCT.
Project Description: FINAL_SOKOTO_ESMP_DRAFT_REPORT_WB
This proposed intervention involves the rehabilitation and renovation of 367 schools for both Junior Secondary School and Senior Secondary School. The rehabilitation works shall be done in two phases with phase one covering 184 schools and phase two covering 183 schools under the School Improvement Plan (SIP) across all the 23 Local Government Areas of Sokoto State.
