PUBLIC DISCLOSURE OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL MANAGEMENT PLAN (ESMP) FOR 12NOs – 40.36KM RURAL ROAD SPOT IMPROVEMENT AND 25NOs – 92.78KM RURAL ROAD UPGRADE IN ELEVEN (11) LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS OF ABIA STATE BY ABIA STATE RURAL ACCESS AGRICULTURAL MARKETING PROJECT.
In accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Act CAP E12 LFN 2004, which makes it mandatory for proponents of all new major developmental activities to carry out Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for their proposed projects, the Federal Ministry of Environment hereby announces a twenty–one (21) working days public disclosure for information and comments on the draft Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) submitted by Abia State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).
The Disclosure Centers Are:
- Umuahia North, Bende, Aba South, Umuahia South, Ugwunagbo, Obingwa, Arochukwu, Ohafia, Umu Nneochi, Isialangwa North, Isialangwa South Local Government Councils, Abia State
- Abia State Ministry of Environment, State Secretariat, Umuahia, Abia State;
- Federal Ministry of Environment, Umuahia Field Office, Abia State;
- Federal Ministry of Environment, Environmental Assessment Department (Environment House), Independence Way South, Central Business District, Abuja-FCT.

Brief Project Description:
This proposed project entails engineering works such as but not limited to site clearance; earthworks (i.e. removal of unsuitable material and filling of lateritic material); construction of reinforced concrete drains (box and pipe culverts) at designated locations needing culverts and drainages; re-sealing/overlay of cracks and eroded carriageway sections; pavement works and ancillary works for Spot Improvement (12Nos – 40.36km) and Upgrade (25Nos – 92.78km) under phase 2 intervention works package across eleven Local Government Areas of Abia State
