PUBLIC DISPLAY EXERCISE ON THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (ESIA) REPORT OF THE PROPOSED INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC STADIUM AT ABAKALIKI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, EBONYI STATE, BY EBONYI STATE GOVERNMENT.
In accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Act CAP E12 LFN 2004, which makes it mandatory for proponents of all new major development activities to carry out Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of their proposed project, the Federal Ministry of Environment hereby announces twenty–one (21) working days Public display on the Draft Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) report submitted by the Ebonyi State Government. This display is to enable the public to make input that shall facilitate informed decision making by the Ministry on the project’s ESIA. Brief Project Description:
The proposed project entails the construction of a Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) compliant 30,000 seating capacity International Olympic Stadium and other sporting facilities such as Olympic size swimming pool, indoor sports hall, volleyball, and basketball courts, to be sited on a land take of 40 hectares at the Abakaliki LGA, Ebonyi State. The stadium facilities are designed to be multifunctional for sporting and non-sporting activities such as social, political, and religious gatherings.
